As the crow flies, we're 0.378 miles apart — just under four-tenths of a mile. As the road turns, it's half a mile. For over thirty years, we've been looking across the valley at Donn DeAngelo's house. Recently, we finally closed that distance — swapping vantage points, with us heading over for a look-see, and Donn coming here for a visit. It was a revelation to gain that perspective.
Over the years our paths have crossed in many places and always at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center Spring Art Show, where Donn has forever been the group photographer — wrangling a herd of unruly artists into shape, then turning the chaos into the annual promo image and poster.
He was instrumental in the restoration of the Del Mue mural at the SGVCC taking the "before" image that Richard used to create an image of the mural as it would look when returned to its former glory. Prints were sold to raise funds. The glory was restored in 2005.
We were thrilled to see Donn's photos of our first-ever show One Year One Beach: Disposable Truths at Gallery Route One, March 30–May 6, 2001, and we are especially grateful for his shots of art works that are long gone, with no other record left but his.
