Since 1999 we have collected plastic from 1,000 yards of one beach, Kehoe Beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore north of San Francisco. By concentrating on one beach we have drawn attention to the global problem of plastic pollution. For Washed Ashore we stepped beyond our regular collecting parameters to visit the Gulf Coast. With an intrepid team from the Art Center we collected plastic then cleaned, curated and created this installation.

All of the plastic objects were collected by 9 people in 7 hours from St. John's Beach and a stretch of Matagorda Island.
